The Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion is the unit responsible for developing, coordinating, directing, supervising and evaluating policies and strategies for the prevention and promotion of health issues, disease control, epidemiological surveillance and mental health, accidents and addictions.

The Undersecretary is equally responsible for coordinating the development of national prevention programs and Disease Control, Health of Children and Adolescents, Gender Equity and Reproductive Health and the Prevention and Control of HIV / AIDS.

Mission SPPS:

Being the administrative unit of the Ministry of Health, it  carries out the analysis and implementation of policies and strategies that are well-defined; governs, coordinates, directs and advises on the prevention and promotion of health issues and disease control, in an effort to provide and safeguard the right to public health protection nationwide.

Being an administrative unit of vanguard, reliable, transparent, timely, creative and recognized as a leader in national and international, that fulfills its mission of safeguarding the principles of universality, equity and national security of the public health services, thereby generating, user satisfaction and customers, both internal and external, for the service and products provided. 

Undersecretary

Collaborate and issue policies and strategies for prevention and health promotion for the general population. Their assignment includes aspects of:

• Health Promotion
• addictions
• Mental health
• Disability and Road Safety
• Epidemiological Surveillance and Laboratory Network
• Prevention, care and control of HIV / AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Infections
• Gender Equity and Reproductive Health
• Disease Prevention and Control
• Health Care for Children and Adolescents

The Program of Health Promotion is a support mechanism to optimally meet challenges presented in Public Health. It also allows to create links and liaise with health institutions and the Network of Laboratories.

Private secretary

Contributes and organizes the activities stemming from the work agenda, commitments and official business of the Undersecretary. It also coordinates the technical support inherent in the work entrusted to deconcentrated administrative units assigned to the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, related to the activities entrusted to the Undersecretary and facilitate its work.

Technical Secretary

Analyzes technical information for internal advice and coordinates the development of the draft of the Mexican Official Standards of Specific Action Programs of the deconcentrated administrative units of the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion.

Private Secretary

Is responsible for organizing and controlling the private agenda of the Undersecretary, in coordination with the private secretary to give fluidity to the official engagements. The private Secretary is also responsible for maintaining constant communication with the Director of Operations.

Advisors Coordinator

He is responsible for reviewing and validating the results of the work developed by the Technical and administrative units and decentralized organs attached to the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion. Among its tasks is also to present proposals to facilitate decision-making in health promotion, disease prevention and control.

Operating Directorate

Responsible for organizing, directing and coordinating human, financial, and media office of the Undersecretary for Prevention and Health Promotion as administrative units and decentralized organs of it, in order to provide the administrative support and property and services necessary for the fulfillment of institutional objectives and goals, according to the regulations governing the matter. System is responsible for the Management Information Fund for Strengthening Public Health Action in the states, SIAFFASPE, and coordinating the issuance, control and monitoring of the Specific Agreements Agreement to Strengthen Public Health Interventions in the states, AFASPE.
